Apply for your child’s secondary school place
If you have a child who is due to start Year 7 at secondary school in September 2025/26 and would like to apply for their place, please follow the application process as outlined on the the Wigan Local Authority web site.

Transferring from other schools
If you would like to move your child from their current secondary school to Atherton High School, you will need to complete an in-year admission form which can be obtained via Wigan Local Authority . If you are considering moving your child to Atherton High School and would like a tour of the school, please contact the school directly on 01942 885500.
Open Evening
Our annual Open Evening is a chance for prospective pupils and their families to see our school in action. With exciting displays, in-class demonstrations and activities, it is a great opportunity to meet our pupils and speak to members of our staff in detail about their subjects and what we have to offer as a school.
Our Open Evenings take place in September/October each year. We hope you will be able to visit our school with your child. If you are unable to attend, but would like to visit us on another day, please contact our school office to arrange a tour and our staff will do their best to accommodate your schedule.
